Radio Interview on the Beef Industry
|
Michael Pollan is a contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine.
His cover story "Power Steer" in the March 31, 2002 issue of the
New York Times Magazine has sparked the interest in the United
States for grassfed hormone free organic beef.
Michael wanted to learn more about the meat industry in the United
States. He became a cattleman on a very small scale by
purchasing a calf and then following the process from fattening to
slaughter.
His experience was a revelation into the common practices of the American
meat industry. After learning about the hormones, steroids,
antibiotics and conditions of the cattle brought to market, he recommended
grassfed beef as a healthy alternative.
Michael Pollan was interviewed about his NY Times article by Tracy Gross
on "Fresh Air." The April 3, 2002 interview was broadcast on
National Public Radio.
