American Grass Fed Beef is proud to be certified humane by Free Farmed, the certification program by American Humane that verifies the commitment of select producers to the well-being of farm animals.
There have been many changes in livestock agriculture over the last few decades. Primarily these changes have involved heavy consolidation and confinement of animals raised for food. Many of the practices and living conditions of these animals are detrimental to the health and happiness of the animal, interfere with the natural grazing behavior, and are fed an aberrant diet that leads to disease of the animal and a less healthy product for consumers.
Part of the mission of American Humane, the oldest humane organization in the country, involves a commitment to the well-being of farm animals. To such a goal the Free Farmed program was developed. This program allows producers to have a third party verify that their animals are raised humanely.
The Free Farmed program also guarantees consumers that the products they select are from animals that were raised and treated humanely from birth to harvest.
American Grass Fed Beef is proud to be one of this select group of producers. Our animals are:
• FREE to live and grow in a humane environment under conditions and care that limits stress;
• FREE to enjoy a healthy life, benefiting from disease, injury prevention and rapid diagnoses and treatment;
• FREE to readily access fresh water and a diet that maintains full health and vigor; and
• FREE to express normal behaviors and live in an appropriate, comfortable environment that includes allowing for the fulfillment of their natural behaviors, shelter, diet, and in the company of animals of like kind.
